This is as funny as a \u201cPortlandia\u201d sketch.<\/p>\n

For the past couple of days, social media platforms have featured a steady trickle of videos and images of protesters in Portland, Oregon, who are rallying against President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s immigration crackdown through the peaceful and playful tactic of wearing inflatable animal costumes and dancing to music in the streets. <\/p>\n

After Trump claimed that Portland is \u201cwar-ravaged\u201d \u2014 and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem <\/a>threatened<\/a> to \u201csend four times the amount of federal officers\u201d currently in the city \u2014 social media users have used recent footage from demonstrations near a local Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility to mock the claim. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s check in on the war zone in Portland,\u201d one post on X reads<\/a> alongside a heavily shared video<\/a> of a dinosaur, unicorn, raccoon and bear dancing to Farruko\u2019s hit \u201cPepas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The video seems to have been shot this week, per one TikTok<\/a>, and according to some road signs featured in the video, it also appears it was shot close to an ICE detention center. <\/p>\n

Courtney Vaughn, an editor at the Portland Mercury, also posted similar videos to Bluesky Tuesday<\/a>, which feature the unicorn, bear and raccoon dancing together to another song.<\/p>\n

\u201cStreets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm,\u201d Vaughn captioned her video. \u201cProtesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Local officials have also responded to Trump\u2019s over-the-top claims that Portland is out of control, with the city\u2019s police chief recently telling CNN<\/a> that protests were confined to just \u201cone city block.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom\u2019s press office posted a video<\/a> to X with text that reads: \u201c\u2018War-ravaged\u2019 Portland Oct. 6, 2025.\u201d The video features footage of a frog, a unicorn, a capybara and Barney the dinosaur with audio of Trump talking about the \u201cdestruction\u201d of Portland.<\/p>\n

\u201cWE FOUND THE PORTLAND WAR ZONE PETE !!\u201d read the video\u2019s caption, referring to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth<\/a>, who submitted a memo to a court that said<\/a> up to 400 Texas National Guard personnel were being activated for deployment to Oregon and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Journalist Don Lemon also posted footage<\/a> of people in Portland dancing in inflatable costumes to TikTok, writing in the caption: \u201cSomething tells me Portland isn\u2019t quite the war-ravaged place Trump says it is\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

More people on X shared their two cents about the out-of-control whimsy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is EXACTLY how we defeat the brutality of ICE, Stephen Miller, and the Trump administration,\u201d one X user wrote<\/a>. \u201cDon\u2019t get into fights with law enforcement and DON\u2019T block ICE vehicles!!! Just make them look stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know; the rainbow unicorn looks pretty violent,\u201d another user joked<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The people of Portland can be very proud of how they’re handling this disgusting invasion of our nation’s cities by Trump and his sycophants.<\/p>\n
