What appeared to be routine housecleaning visits in Los Angeles turned out to be part of an elaborate burglary operation, authorities say.<\/p>\n

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two women posing as cleaning service workers allegedly used a mobile app to enter homes across the San Fernando Valley, stealing luxury handbags, jewelry and thousands of dollars in cash from unsuspecting residents.<\/p>\n

Detectives with the LAPD\u2019s Commercial Crimes Division arrested 30-year-old Nikol Quiroga and 49-year-old Sandra Aguillon, both Colombian nationals, on Sept. 30 after a multi-agency investigation involving the FBI and the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

When officers searched the suspects\u2019 apartment and vehicles, they reportedly found more than $50,000 in cash, along with high-end handbags, jewelry, and an array of burglary tools \u2014 including Wi-Fi jammers, GPS trackers, stolen license plates, trail cameras, and cellphones, police said.<\/p>\n

Investigators believe the pair are part of a larger transnational organized crime network that has targeted homes throughout the Valley. By creating fake profiles on a cleaning service app, detectives say the women were able to gain access to private residences under the guise of professional cleaners.<\/p>\n

Both suspects were booked at the Van Nuys Jail for grand theft, according to police records. Authorities are continuing to investigate and are seeking potential additional suspects or victims.<\/p>\n
