POTSDAM \u2014 A rare feat occurred this summer at the Potsdam Town and Country Club.<\/p>\n
Longtime club member Willard Witherell sank two holes-in-one, one each on consecutive days.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis summer one of our members, Willard Witherell, accomplished a rare feat by making Holes-in-One on consecutive days,\u201d said Julian Dicker, club representative. \u201cThe first one was made July 12th from the Gold Tees on the 106 yard Hole #3. The second was made July 13th from the Gold Tees on the 129 yard Hole #14.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dicker said it’s \u201chard to imagine how hard this is to do.\u201d Dicker said a Google search claims that the odds of sinking holes-in-one on two consecutive days for an amateur are estimated at 1 to 17 million. This is apparently based on the odds of 1 in 12,500 of a single hole-in-one and multiplying that by the odds of another on a subsequent day.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been a member for the past 25 years. This would be my 3rd and 4th hole in ones.\u00a0 My first was about 15 years ago and the second was last October,\u201d Witherell said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlaying golf at PTCC is great fun. The staff and grounds crew do an excellent job maintaining the facilities. The restaurant is a wonderful place to meet after a round of golf with friends,\u201c the local ace said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a total of five Holes-in-One this year at PTCC. That\u2019s fairly typical. Two on consecutive days by the same player is extremely rare.
