What would you like us to cover? <a href=\"#Section1\"><strong>Get in touch<\/strong><\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Philadelphia area <a href=\"https:\/\/mach-2.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub, <\/a>or MACH2, could be on the chopping block. The <a href=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/newsgraphics\/documenttools\/671ee5a7d749c232\/5f00bd9f-full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Energy listed MACH2 and the <\/a>Pittsburgh-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleghenyfront.org\/trump-clean-energy-arch2-appalachian-regional-hydrogen-hub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub<\/a>, or ARCH2, as <a href=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/newsgraphics\/documenttools\/671ee5a7d749c232\/5f00bd9f-full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">projects targeted for termination.<\/a> Together, the projects could lose $1.7 billion dollars in federal funding.\n<\/p>\n<p>Both hydrogen hubs survived a round of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-clean-energy-hydrogen-hub-newsom-0223cb4469508bcea4f689c18c9ab65d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump administration cuts announced last week<\/a> that included <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/delaware-new-jersey-clean-energy-projects-funding-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than $43 million for projects in Delaware and New Jersey<\/a>. But the new list, which was obtained by several news outlets, includes 300 additional projects nationwide, including some in Pennsylvania.\n  <\/p>\n<p>The DOE said in an email to NPR that it had not made any final decisions beyond the cuts announced last week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Secretary Wright made <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qQl4jM_YkDo__;!!Iwwt!SZXWZNQGiGg4AsvqaEnZaYZ0z_AUMmCrEN37cauDSajM9Jd0W0aiausmK-SvWVuJgC-SK9JpscuC__6g2lHz9ACb6kwy$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clear last week<\/a>, the Department continues to conduct an individualized and thorough review of financial awards made by the previous administration,\u201d wrote Ben Dietderich, DOE press secretary and chief spokesperson. \u201cRest assured, the Department is hard at work to deliver on President Trump\u2019s promise to restore affordable, reliable, and secure energy to the American people.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration targeted $7.5 billion in cuts on the first day of the federal government shutdown in what Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought referred to<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/russvought\/status\/1973450301236715838\"> in a post on X as \u201cGreen New Scam funding to fuel the Left\u2019s climate agenda.\u201d\u00a0<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a big proponent of the state\u2019s two hydrogen hubs, said through a spokesperson that he is \u201can all-of-the-above energy Governor who\u2019s worked tirelessly to generate more power in the Commonwealth.\u201d He questioned the Trump administration\u2019s stated commitments to developing hydrogen, which if the projects were to be terminated \u201cwould jeopardize tens of thousands of building trades jobs across Pennsylvania.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Senator McCormick invited President Trump to join him in Pittsburgh in July, the President said he supports the development of new sources of energy in Pennsylvania \u2013 going so far as to tout the very projects slated to be decimated by the reported Department of Energy de-funding list,\u201d wrote Shapiro\u2019s spokesperson Rosie Lapowsky in an email to WHYY News. \u201cIf these rumors are true, continuing to support Pennsylvania\u2019s two hydrogen hubs is critical to proving that he meant what he said.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
