{"id":292703,"date":"2025-10-10T19:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T19:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/292703\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T19:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T19:25:10","slug":"rhop-star-wendy-osefo-arrested-on-insurance-fraud-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/292703\/","title":{"rendered":"RHOP Star Wendy Osefo Arrested on Insurance Fraud Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/the-real-housewives\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-real-housewives_1\" data-tag=\"the-real-housewives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Real Housewives<\/a> of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and husband Eddie Osefo have been arrested and booked on 16 insurance fraud charges, before being released on Friday, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA spokesperson for the Carroll County Circuit Court in Westminster, Maryland told THR that a warrant for the arrest of the Osefo was executed on Thursday and they were booked in all on 16 charges, including seven felonies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Osefos are alleged to have made false and misleading information leading to insurance fraud in excess of $300. The criminal charges follow an April 2024 burglary reported by the Osefos at their home, after which they allegedly made false theft claims for luxury items to their insurers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe court representatives said the Osefos were released on Friday on a $50,000 bond. No information on future court dates was available. Wendy Osefo also faces one misdemeanor charge for allegedly making a false statement to a police officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cDr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,\u201d Osefo\u2019s representatives said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. \u201cThey are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOsefo became a cast member on\u00a0Real Housewives of Potomac\u00a0in 2020.\u00a0Her legal woes are only the latest for the long-running <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/bravo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bravo_1\" data-tag=\"bravo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bravo<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/reality-tv\/\" id=\"auto-tag_reality-tv_1\" data-tag=\"reality-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reality TV<\/a> franchise, with The Real Housewives of New Jersey\u00a0star Teresa Giudice <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/real-housewives-legal-woes-scandals\/teresa-and-joe-giudice-2014-2019\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/real-housewives-legal-woes-scandals\/teresa-and-joe-giudice-2014-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">having served 11 months<\/a> in jail over a bank and bankruptcy fraud case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Jen Shah is serving a 6.5 year prison sentence after she\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/real-housewives-salt-lake-city-jen-shah-pleads-guilty-fraud-1235178211\/\">pled guilty<\/a>\u00a0to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2022.
