Credit: 7NEWSGrim discovery<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The women were found by two fellow hikers at Lendenfeld Point, near the Cleve Cole Hut, a shelter for trekkers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Keith Jackson from the Mt Bogong Mountaineering Club said the hikers were returning to their car after a day on the mountain when they came across the women\u2019s gear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThey are both medical doctors, so they knew the deceased were indeed deceased,\u201d he told 7NEWS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Police believe the pair were trying to survive extreme weather but succumbed to hypothermia after being caught in \u201cblizzard conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThe wind is such that it will literally blow you over,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIt\u2019s a pretty brutal environment, if things go wrong it will kill you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/895b7146720b723e00ab44adffac8db29b4a08f2.jpg\" alt=\"The women were found side-by-side on the isolated mountainside.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The women were found side-by-side on the isolated mountainside. Credit: 7NEWS<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Temperatures dropped to -2.8C during those days and felt as low as -11C at night, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Inspector Paul Hargreaves said the bodies may have been at the location for two to three days before being discovered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Recovery was delayed until the next day due to extreme weather, with helicopters used to retrieve the bodies on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Their deaths are not considered suspicious.<\/p>\n<p>Repeated tragedy from Tasmania<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">A week earlier, another Chinese woman died while hiking unprepared for extreme weather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">She was part of a group of four tourists in Cradle Mountain National Park in Tasmania on September 26 when they struggled in cold conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Rescuers camped with the group overnight and helped them back the following morning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/c4093f8e120c5824fc4b2ac3a1ab6743e77f413a.jpg\" alt=\"Hikers found the bodies of the two women on an exposed expanse of Mount Bogong.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Hikers found the bodies of the two women on an exposed expanse of Mount Bogong.
