HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 A Houston man identified by court records as Ted Fleming, 45, has been charged with kidnapping<\/a> after officials say he injected a high school student with an unknown substance and tried to abduct them near Aldine High School<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Harris County court records, Fleming, who is listed as homeless, remains in custody at the Harris County Jail on a $150,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. for arraignment.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Wednesday, Oct. 1, when Aldine High School staff members noticed a student \u201cstumbling and walking off balance\u201d on the sidewalk near a shopping center across from the campus. Concerned for the student\u2019s safety, staff members contacted the Aldine ISD Police Department.<\/p>\n

The district told KPRC 2<\/a> that when an officer arrived, he detained a man, later identified as Fleming, and found the student non-responsive. The officer immediately began administering CPR until the student regained consciousness as EMS arrived. The student then told authorities that Fleming had injected them with an unknown substance.<\/p>\n

Court records state that Fleming \u201cintentionally and knowingly abducted\u201d the student by injecting \u201can unknown substance causing the complainant to lose consciousness.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the kidnapping charge, Aldine ISD Police presented charges of failure to register as a sex offender and entering school grounds without notice, which were accepted by the Harris County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Before this incident, court records show Fleming had prior convictions, including indecent exposure in May of this year.<\/p>\n

Aldine ISD<\/a> officials said police will increase patrols in the area surrounding the school following the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority,\u201d the district said in a statement.<\/p>\n
