Every day, Michael Elton Casey sets up shop right along LA’s Miracle Mile, turning a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard makeshift barber shop.<\/p>\n
The Fun House Barbershop is a sidewalk sideshow oddity that needs to be seen to be believed, with customers lining up to get lined up by the star of the show.<\/p>\n
“This is LA, it’s all a circus!” said Casey, owner of the shop.<\/p>\n
Casey says his journey all started during high school in Indianapolis, when he was cutting hair during class.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in the back of the classroom in high school, cutting hair and the teacher said, ‘I’m next. I’m sitting in the chair next. Y’all read pages 22 to 35. Mike, give me a fade. If the principal comes here. I didn’t tell you to do this,’\u201d recounted Casey, who grew up near some Indiana fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
Years later, Casey decided he would bring his big top to the big city to set up his own storefront. When Hollywood slowed down, Casey closed his shop in March.<\/p>\n
“April, I came here (Miracle Mile) because, you know, rent was only going up, but actors wouldn’t come, wouldn’t come to get their goods. You know, there was no work.”<\/p>\n
So instead of actors coming to him, Casey came to the actors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got studios behind us. We got Sony behind us. CrunchyRoll. See, we got SAG-AFTRA right there!\u201d said Casey, referring to the studios near his makeshift shop.<\/p>\n
Casey says he hopes to bring his talents to television one day.<\/p>\n
“This is my church. It’s my community, man. You know, I love them like they are my brothers, man. You know, I really would do it for free.
