{"id":294864,"date":"2025-10-11T14:31:20","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T14:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/294864\/"},"modified":"2025-10-11T14:31:20","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T14:31:20","slug":"tirees-sub-sea-internet-cable-damaged-by-storm-amy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/294864\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiree&#8217;s sub-sea internet cable damaged by Storm Amy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">OpenReach said more engineers were expected to arrive on Tiree by ferry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokesperson said: &#8220;They&#8217;ll set-up temporary connectivity for the community, while we work on a permanent fix.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;In the meantime, we appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone affected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Repairs are also being made to a sub-sea cable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c9wd4zvk9v0o\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which brings internet services to Shetland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The cable was damaged in rough seas on Friday in shallow waters about a mile off the coast of Orkney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Communications company OpenReach said some broadband services in Shetland had been affected, including Talk Talk customers in Lerwick.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"OpenReach said more engineers were expected to arrive on Tiree by ferry.
