{"id":294907,"date":"2025-10-11T14:53:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T14:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/294907\/"},"modified":"2025-10-11T14:53:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T14:53:10","slug":"chef-misti-norris-new-monthly-dinner-series-at-saint-valentine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/294907\/","title":{"rendered":"Chef Misti Norris&#8217; New Monthly Dinner Series at Saint Valentine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1240\" height=\"902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/petra_thebeast_mistinorris_alisonmclean_02.webp.jpeg\" class=\"article-thumbnail-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"Chef Misti Norris\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tChef Misti Norris is introducing a new wine-pairing monthly dinner\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Alison McLean<\/p>\n<p>When James Beard-nominated chef Misti Norris<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/dallas-chef-driven-gem-petra-and-the-beast-to-close-at-the-end-of-the-year-21400158\/\"> closed her beloved restaurant Petra and the Beast <\/a>late last year, Dallas lost a good one.<\/p>\n<p>Norris\u2019 restaurant received many accolades: Esquire\u2019s\u00a0Best New Restaurant list in 2018;\u00a0Bon App\u00e9tit\u00a0Top 50 Restaurants in 2019; several James Beard nominations, including Best New Restaurant, Best Chef Texas in 2022 and a finalist for that same award in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the closure, Norris explained on Instagram that there were moments when she felt \u201cstuck\u201d after they moved from the original quaint space to a larger restaurant. She wrote she was \u201ctorn between my desire to be in the kitchen, creating and connecting and the reality of having to make compromises to the restaurant to meet the demands of a bigger audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since then, she\u2019s taken on two new projects: one as food director at the new restaurant <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/dallas-lands-new-brewpub-with-far-out-and-la-hermana-cerveceria-21282159\/\">Far Out<\/a>, where she\u2019s the culinary director and leads on bigger projects. But she also found a permanent home for her long-time side project pop-up, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/misti-norris-returns-for-rainbow-cat-pop-up-at-saint-valentine-21826350\/\">Rainbow Cat<\/a>. The kitchen in the Old East Dallas cocktail lounge, Saint Valentine \u2014\u00a0which is one of our <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/best-bars-in-dallas-texas-22596153\/\">favorite bars<\/a> \u2014 is now a new home for Rainbow Cat.<\/p>\n<p>The everyday menu here includes the soul of the Rainbow Cat project: refined nostalgia on a plate. Think glossed-up TV dinners, chicken nuggets that are much better than they have any business being, and Cosmic Brownies made from scratch and topped with fancy house-made potato chips. The signature piece is the Unicorn Dog: a from-scratch sausage served atop crispy rice shaped like a bun. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to this fun menu that is available daily at Saint Valentine, Norris is reviving a bit of Petra and the Beast with a <strong>new monthly wine dinner.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The New Dinner Series<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m super excited because, honestly, fine dining is my love,\u201d Norris says. \u201cThat\u2019s my soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Rainbow Cat has a playful and nostalgic chef-driven menu, the new monthly wine-tasting dinner series will channel the fine dining Dallasites experienced at Petra and the Beast. On these nights, Saint Valentine will transform into a fine-dining restaurant for about 40 diners.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/wine-tasting-dinner-with-chef-misti-norris-winemaker-giovanna-bagnasco-tickets-1777827553069?aff=oddtdtcreator&amp;fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaceRXBPloCvasr8FXEwwRYQz-4qBQM34CY-UnxSwudXobDJCTazohOYns66Wg_aem_LED25b1VwRhIYqZlJvkkpg\">complete menu is online<\/a>, but a few highlights from the five-course dinner are Koji-butter-roasted Millbrook black king mushrooms, sweetbread and Texas chevre manti and amazake-roasted Berkshire pork shank with buttered field peas.
