JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) \u2014 Two people were rescued and hospitalized following a house explosion in Jacksonville Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post<\/a>, the Jacksonville\/Morgan County Office of Emergency Management said on Oct. 10 at approximately 4:50 p.m., emergency crews responded to a house explosion in the 2100 block of East Morton Avenue in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

Two people were rescued from the home and transported to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, then transferred to the Springfield Trauma Center.<\/p>\n

As of Friday, at approximately 8:23 p.m., the Jacksonville Fire Department remained on scene, working with the Illinois State Fire Marshal and local partners to investigate the cause of the explosion.<\/p>\n

Residents were being asked to avoid this area while emergency operations continued. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n
