{"id":295179,"date":"2025-10-11T17:18:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T17:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/295179\/"},"modified":"2025-10-11T17:18:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T17:18:12","slug":"corpses-of-250-animals-found-with-survivors-eating-the-dead-in-breeding-ground-of-horror-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/295179\/","title":{"rendered":"Corpses of 250 animals found with survivors eating the dead in &#8220;breeding ground of horror&#8221; in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spanish police on Saturday said they made an arrest after finding 250 dead animals, mostly dogs, in a filthy warehouse that local media dubbed &#8220;the breeding ground of horror.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.guardiacivil.es\/es\/destacados\/noticias\/La-Guardia-Civil-halla-250-cadaveres-de-animales-en-un-criadero-clandestino-en-A-Coruna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Civil Guard said<\/a> the illegal site in the northwestern village of Meson do Vento had &#8220;extremely poor&#8221; hygiene and animal welfare conditions, with cages &#8220;totally covered in excrement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The dead animals, which included 28 chihuahuas and birds, were &#8220;in different stages of decomposition, some even mummified,&#8221; the force said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dog-2025-10-11-maltrato-animal-coruna-1.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"dog-2025-10-11-maltrato-animal-coruna-1.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Spanish police said in Oct. 11, 2025 that they made an arrest after finding 250 dead animals in a filthy warehouse.<\/p>\n<p>                Spanish Civil Guard<\/p>\n<p>The Civil Guard saved 171 other animals, including exotic and protected bird species such as macaws and cockatoos, which were found in a life-threatening condition.<\/p>\n<p>The survivors were feeding off the dead animals due to the lack of food and water, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/guardiacivil\/status\/1976920710682394680\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Police released images<\/a> of officers tending to the rescued animals. The surviving animals were &#8220;relocated to appropriate centers for their recovery and well-being,&#8221; police said.<\/p>\n<p>The site manager was arrested on charges of animal abuse, illegal possession of protected species and unqualified veterinary practice.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/bird-2025-10-11-maltrato-animal-coruna-2.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"bird-2025-10-11-maltrato-animal-coruna-2.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Police said they rescued 171 other animals, including exotic and protected bird species.<\/p>\n<p>                Spanish Civil Guard<\/p>\n<p>The Civil Guard also said authorities found a large stockpile of professional veterinary medicines and supplies that were unprescribed and mostly expired.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, Spanish authorities have uncovered illegal animal trafficking rings. In August, two men were found with more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/spain-animal-trafficking-endangered-species\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">150 exotic animals<\/a> at an illegal pet store in the town of Nules.
