PHOENIX \u2014 Three people were hurt in an alleged attempted robbery turned shooting near Tempe Town Lake late Friday night, authorities said.<\/p>\n

According to the Tempe Police Department, officers and detectives responded to the area of Rio Salado Parkway and Hardy Drive<\/a> for a shooting investigation around 11:42 p.m.<\/p>\n

Police said that two people were riding scooters on the south side of Tempe Town Lake when a group of multiple people approached them.<\/p>\n

The group reportedly attempted to rob one of the scooter riders at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

According to Tempe PD, that is when the scooter riders and one of the suspects exchanged gunfire.<\/p>\n

The suspects left before police arrived but were later located by officers, police said.<\/p>\n

One of the scooter riders and two of the suspects were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Tempe police.<\/p>\n

There is no outstanding threat to the community.<\/p>\n

Tempe PD did not name the suspects due to the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
