Sydney protesters wary of ceasefire\"Anton<\/p>\n

In Sydney <\/b>protesters are wary that the ceasefire in Gaza <\/b>would not mean peace across the wider middle-east region.<\/p>\n

At Hyde Park, Ezra Kurt<\/b> said she wanted Israel to stop “completely bombing” other neighbouring nations.<\/p>\n

\n

“We’re a little bit relieved but let’s be real a ceasefire has been called several times this year and last year, I don’t buy it personally,” Ezra Kurt said.<\/p>\n

“While a ceasefire has been called for Palestine, for Gaza, they have abundantly been bombing south of Lebanon now.<\/p>\n

“If they’ve stopped at one spot, they’re not completely stopping.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ceasefire a first step, protester says\"Natasha\"A(ABC News)<\/p>\n

Protestors have voiced that the ceasefire is a first step but that they have been calling for more than just a ceasefire.<\/p>\n

\n

“We’ve been campaigning for the end to the occupation, colonisation and end to the apartheid system that consistently oppresses and dominates Palestinians,” Mai Saif<\/b> says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The International Criminal Court is investigating allegations of war crimes but has not yet made any findings, and Israel strenuously denies the allegations.<\/p>\n

\n

“The ceasefire is just the beginning, the reality is Gaza is completely destroyed, we have a whole population that’s been starved, died from famine, these conditions have not stopped,” Saf says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hundreds of people are gathering outside the State Library of Victoria<\/b> to hear speeches before marching through the CBD and on to St Kilda Road towards the US consulate days after a ceasefire was declared in Gaza.<\/p>\n

One attendee said protestors were promoting peace while ensuring a stop to the genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n

Another said it was important people continued to regularly show their support for peace in Gaza, every Sunday.<\/p>\n

There is a visible police presence around the landmark after a court ruled the rally scheduled for today could not proceed at the Opera House.<\/p>\n

From marathon to march, roads in Melbourne have been closed all day\"Maddy<\/p>\n

\u00a0It’s a busy day in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Protestors are beginning to gather in\u00a0Melbourne’s CBD\u00a0<\/b>outside the Victoria State Library on Swanston Street, before heading down St Kilda Road towards the US consulate.<\/p>\n

Both Swanston Street and St Kilda Road have been closed all morning for the Nike Melbourne Marathon \u2014 which saw a record-breaking 50,000 attendees hitting the pavement in the inner-city \u2014and will remain closed for today’s march.<\/p>\n

Opera House off the agenda for Sydney rally\"Paulina<\/p>\n

Protesters are starting to gather at Sydney’s Hyde Park<\/b> where they will hear from speakers, including three Australians who took part in the Sumud Flotilla<\/b> attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.<\/p>\n

They will then make their way down George Street to Belmore Park<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Original plans to protest at the Opera House <\/b>were changed by organisers after a prohibition order<\/b> by police was approved by the NSW Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

Police argued the plan posed a risk of a crowd crush, and said they would have police stationed at the forecourt of the iconic venue to make sure protesters didn’t gather there.<\/p>\n
