I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bette-midler\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bette-midler\" data-tag=\"bette-midler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bette Midler<\/a>, who co-starred with Keaton along with Goldie Hawn in The First Wives Club, wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv-movies\/tv-movie-news\/bette-midler-diane-keaton-tribute-the-first-wives-club-1235445627\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heartfelt tribute<\/a> on Instagram. \u201cShe was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was\u2026oh, la, lala!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tHawn also shared a tribute to Keaton. \u201cYou stole the hearts of the world and shared your genius with millions, making films that made us laugh and cry in ways only you could,\u201d she wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DPr-aZuEmRo\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI was blessed to make First Wives Club with you, our days starting with coffee in the makeup trailer, laughing and joking, right through to the very last day of filming. It was a roller coaster of love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/steve-martin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_steve-martin\" data-tag=\"steve-martin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Martin<\/a>, who portrayed Keaton\u2019s husband in 1991\u2019s Father of the Bride and the sequel, paid tribute with a good-natured joke. In an Instagram post, he shared a clip from Interview Magazine, which has Martin Short asking Keaton, \u201cWho\u2019s sexier, me or Steve Martin?\u201d Her reply: \u201cI mean, you\u2019re both idiots.\u201d In a caption, Martin said, \u201cit sums up our delightful relationship with Diane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tKimberly Williams-Paisley, who played Keaton\u2019s daughter in Father of the Bride and its sequel, said that working with Keaton \u201cwill always be one of the highlights of my life.\u201d Her Instagram post includes photos of the pair in the film. \u201cYou are one of a kind, and it was thrilling to be in your orbit for a time. Unique is what she was.
