{"id":2971,"date":"2025-06-21T17:52:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-21T17:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/2971\/"},"modified":"2025-06-21T17:52:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T17:52:09","slug":"retails-internet-challenges-lake-county-record-bee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/2971\/","title":{"rendered":"Retail\u2019s internet challenges! \u2013 Lake County Record-Bee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internet retailing presents unique challenges to retailers who are doing business the traditional way \u2013\u00a0in physical environments.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0While some retailers strive to strike a middle ground by combining their availability (in-store and online), many do not offer dual access to their inventories.<\/p>\n<p>There are many perspectives and many approaches for reaching the preferred market share; but make no mistake, today\u2019s competition has extra layers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The \u201ccompetition\u201d is no longer limited\u00a0to the other product-similar retailers in one\u2019s own community, the lure of \u201cbig box\u201d stores in the new strip mall, and the phone-or-mail-order catalog industry!<\/p>\n<p>No.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s a whole new world out there for the small, independent, local retailer.\u00a0 Internet competition is real, large and formidable.\u00a0 Many try to meet the challenge halfway by providing a website and (kind of) cooperating with the Internet giant.\u00a0 Nevertheless, the pressure is great, and it has links to almost all of retail\u2019s traditional disciplines and benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Internet retailing flies right in the face of our tried and true\u00a0expectations concerning service!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Those expectations are closely connected to\u00a0perception as reality.\u00a0\u00a0The traditional techniques for getting and retaining one\u2019s market share of the retail market have become more critical.\u00a0 Those expectations are directly\u00a0fulfilled or disappointed by presentation.<\/p>\n<p>The traditional small-business retail purveyor has unique opportunities for leveling the new competitive field.\u00a0\u00a0Designing interiors that capture and facilitate multiple product or service access \u2013 with Internet competition in mind \u2014\u00a0has become a specialty niche for interior design.<\/p>\n<p>Retail business can resist the pressures of specialized competition, or pull it in close and beat it at its own game!<\/p>\n<p>When it\u2019s apparent that your competitive edge is at risk, and you connect some of the loss to Internet competition, it is time to re-think how you are presenting to your customer base.<\/p>\n<p>It is very important to look at basic customer satisfaction factors, and analyze where Internet shopping falls short.<\/p>\n<p>Probably without exception, customers value\u00a0service!\u00a0\u00a0 Customers want service at point of purchase and for\u00a0follow-up needs.\u00a0 They want\u00a0\u201ccourtesy conveniences\u201d\u00a0such as seating and bathroom availability. (\u2026there\u2019s one down-the-street-at-the-fast-food is a major turn off.)
