{"id":297198,"date":"2025-10-12T11:57:39","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T11:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297198\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T11:57:39","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T11:57:39","slug":"kamala-harris-chicago-book-tour-event-interrupted-by-protesters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297198\/","title":{"rendered":"Kamala Harris&#8217; Chicago book tour event interrupted by protesters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/05\/media\/bill-maher-rips-kamala-harris-for-playing-victim-over-campaign-loss-in-her-new-book-107-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kamala Harris\u2019 book\u00a0tour<\/a> stop in Chicago\u00a0was disrupted multiple times Saturday afternoon, as security removed several protesters during a tense event promoting her new memoir, \u201c107 Days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Harris discussed her book with journalist Michele Norris, who was moderating the event, at least one protester began shouting from the audience, prompting a chorus of \u201cget her out\u201d from attendees.<\/p>\n<p>Security quickly escorted the woman from the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Footage from the event showed at least two additional disruptions, including a man who appeared to shout about genocide before being removed.<\/p>\n<p>The motivations behind the protests were not immediately clear.<\/p>\n<p>The audience responded with applause when Norris addressed the disruptions by saying, \u201cWe encourage people to use their voices, but we want them to show respect for this woman.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/07\/us-news\/white-house-mocks-kamala-harris-cackle-after-she-suggests-trump-admin-is-crazy-at-la-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harris responded with a bit of humor,<\/a> adding, \u201cAnd please pronounce my name correctly\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time Harris\u2019 book\u00a0tour has drawn protests.<\/p>\n<p>Since launching her national book tour late last month, Harris has faced similar interruptions at several <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/01\/media\/kamala-harris-book-details-petty-fight-with-husband-over-bland-hotel-room\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stops promoting \u201c107 Days,\u201d <\/a>which recounts <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/29\/us-news\/kamala-harris-reveals-plans-for-hypothetical-abortion-clash-during-trump-debate-and-the-dark-joke-she-had-ready\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her 2024 presidential campaign<\/a> following President Biden\u2019s withdrawal from the race.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kamala Harris shouts at an audience member during her book tour stop in Washington, DC, on Oct. 9, 2025. Sachyn Mital\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The book chronicles her 107-day sprint to Election Day and offers a behind-the-scenes look at campaign decisions, staff tensions, and political challenges she faced during that period.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the live events, Harris\u2019 memoir and the publicity surrounding it have sparked criticism \u2014 even from within her own party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An advisor to a potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender\u00a0told Politico,\u00a0\u201cAt a time when people are looking for a vision and leadership\u2026 and want to see leaders rise to the level of threat facing the country, it\u2019s pretty crazy she chose to write a gossip book that prioritizes the pettiness of her politics.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The advisor added, \u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing for her, and for all Democrats, considering she was the leader of the party less than a year ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former CNN journalist Chris Cillizza also weighed in critically, writing on his Substack, \u201cHarris\u2019 recent media tour to tout her memoir \u2014 \u2018107 Days\u2019 \u2014 has reminded me of something I think I have long known: She is simply not a very good politician. And she hasn\u2019t gotten much better over her decades in the business.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, Cillizza noted that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/kamala-harris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Harris\u2019 return to the public stage<\/a>\u00a0reminded him \u201cshe\u2019s not good on her feet,\u201d and added, \u201cshe speaks in word salads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Criticism has also come from Democratic strategist Gary South,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/5516157-harris-memoir-democrats-divided\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">who told The Hill<\/a>\u00a0that the timing of Harris\u2019 memoir was less than ideal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Former Vice President Kamala Harris details her new memoir \u201c107 Days,\u201d during an event at the Warner Theater on Oct. 9, 2025.
