{"id":297323,"date":"2025-10-12T13:05:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T13:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297323\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T13:05:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T13:05:11","slug":"applied-materials-asu-open-270m-chip-research-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297323\/","title":{"rendered":"Applied Materials, ASU open $270M chip research center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Applied Materials Inc. and Arizona State University on Thursday opened a $270 million research, development and prototyping facility to support the Valley\u2019s growing semiconductor ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>The Materials-to-Fab Center consists of 50,000 square feet of cleanroom space and 20,000 square feet of wet and dry labs in the university\u2019s MacroTechnology Works building at ASU Research Park. The facility is designed to foster innovations from ideation to fab prototype by leveraging Applied Materials\u2019 semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a collaborative environment for academia, researchers and industry partners.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration of ASU\u2019s engineering teams, Applied Materials technologists and industry partners will boost development of new chip technologies crucial to U.S. leadership in AI and high-performance computing, Dr. Prabu Raja, president of Applied Materials\u2019 semiconductor products group, said Thursday at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur collaboration will also help to create a new generation of talent to feed this ecosystem,\u201d he said. \u201cThese students are already working with Applied Materials\u2019 equipment. Today, we can already foresee more than 30 research publications and eight patents coming out of this collaboration.
