{"id":297926,"date":"2025-10-12T18:29:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T18:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297926\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T18:29:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T18:29:10","slug":"alex-de-minaur-releases-statement-as-he-withdraws-from-tournament-just-two-days-before-it-starts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/297926\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex de Minaur releases statement as he withdraws from tournament just two days before it starts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex de Minaur continued his busy season this week at the Shanghai Masters, where he fell in the quarterfinals to Daniil Medvedev.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/alex-de-minaur-has-been-given-some-good-news-despite-his-loss-to-daniil-medvedev-in-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">De Minaur should make the ATP Finals<\/a> despite his loss to Medvedev, who went on to lose to eventual runner-up Arthur Rinderknech.<\/p>\n<p>Rinderknech incidentally lost the Shanghai Masters final to his cousin Valentin Vacherot, but the calendar will now rapidly move on from the ATP Masters 1000 event.<\/p>\n<p>The Almaty Open, European Open and Nordic Open are all taking place this week, with the ATP 250 events followed by ATP 500 events in Vienna and Basel.<\/p>\n<p>Also returning this week is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/uts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ultimate Tennis Showdown<\/a> (UTS), with the action in Hong Kong starting in two days.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"663\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2188893295-1-1024x663.jpg\" alt=\"UTS Grand Final London 2024\" class=\"wp-image-48950\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty ImagesAlex de Minaur confirms withdrawal from tournament two days before it starts<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alex-de-minaur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">De Minaur<\/a> was scheduled to play at the tournament, but the Australian has now confirmed his withdrawal due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>He said in a statement on his Instagram: \u201cHi guys, Alex de Minaur here. So I\u2019m wishing the rest of the competitors an incredible tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure the fans are really going to enjoy it. Wishing all the best to the beautiful city of Hong Kong, and this amazing tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Mouratoglou reacts after Alex de Minaur withdraws from UTS Hong Kong<\/p>\n<p>Fans at the UTS Hong Kong will certainly miss the Australian, particularly given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/alex-de-minaur-receives-big-bonus-after-winning-uts-final-vs-holger-rune-as-his-overall-prize-money-confirmed\/#:~:text=Alex%20de%20Minaur%20ended%20his,Arena%20over%20the%20last%20week.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">De Minaur won the 2024 UTS Grand Final<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The world number seven has been replaced by American Jenson Brooksby, who is currently ranked 57th on the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his verdict on the update, UTS founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uts.live\/league-2025\/hong-kong\/news\/8926-brooksby-replaces-injured-de-minaur-at-chubb-uts-hong-kong-2025-with-humansa-kyrgios-to-coach-gasquet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Patrick Mouratoglou said<\/a>: \u201cWhilst it\u2019s unfortunate that Alex has been forced to withdraw from the event, we understand that injuries are an inevitable part of this physically and mentally demanding sport, particularly towards the end of a long season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to welcome an excellent player like Jenson Brooksby to the field at such short notice.
