The Miami Dolphins<\/a>‘ rough start to the season took another turn Sunday.<\/p>\n

Following a last-second loss to the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> to fall to 1-5, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa shared some troubling details in his postgame press conference.<\/p>\n

The former first-round pick told reporters that some Dolphins players have been late or skipped players-only meetings in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

“It starts with the leadership and helping articulate that for the guys and what we’re expecting out of the guys,” Tagovailoa said. “We’re expecting this, are we getting that? Are we not getting that? We have guys showing up to players-only meetings late, guys not showing up to players-only meetings.<\/p>\n

“There’s a lot that goes into that. Do we have to make this mandatory? Do we not have to make this mandatory? So, it’s a lot of things of that nature that we have to get cleaned up — and it starts with the little things like that.”<\/p>\n

When asked to clarify if he meant to share that his teammates were late or not showing up to meetings, Tagovailoa doubled down on their timeliness.<\/p>\n

“Late, yeah,” he said.<\/p>\n

Tagovailoa and the Dolphins didn’t go down without a fight in their latest defeat, though. Trailing 26-13 midway through the fourth quarter, Miami rattled off down late touchdown drives to pull ahead 27-26 with 46 seconds to play.<\/p>\n

The defense was exposed on the final drive, giving up 44 yards in 41 seconds before Cameron Dicker buried a 33-yard field goal with five seconds left. On the last play of the game, Tagovailoa was picked off by Derwin James — his third interception of the game.<\/p>\n

Of the Dolphins’ five losses this season, three have been by six points or less — including the last two. Miami hits the road next Sunday for a date with rookie QB Dillon Gabriel and the 1-5 Cleveland Browns in Week 7.<\/p>\n
