That doesn’t mean you just bench them.”

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (5) is challenged by Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II (2) in the second half on Oct. 12, 2025. AP

Despite how terribly they played on offense, the Jets had a chance to win this game.

They took an 11-10 lead in the third quarter after a safety.

The Broncos regained the lead with 5:06 left in the game on a Wil Lutz 27-yard field goal.

The Jets had two chances to drive down the field and kick the game-winning field goal but failed.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn (c.) looks on from the sideline during the loss to the Broncos on Oct. 12, 2025. At that point we didn’t know if we got the first down or not. I know one ref was saying yes and the other one was no. Once it got to fourth down, I’m not about to sit there and try to get a play off, they get the ball back. I think they had a timeout left. Give them a chance to kick a field goal, that’s not the smartest thing to do. End the half, get the ball back, see if we get a chance to score.”

Wilson was visibly upset as he came off the field.

“I just didn’t know exactly what the plan was,” Wilson said. “Once I figured it out, I was disappointed. I’ll just say that.”

The Broncos entered the game leading the league in sacks and they added the nine to their impressive total. It was not all on the offensive line, though, as Fields held onto the ball in many instances.

Jets fans are seen wearing brown paper bags over their heads as they enter Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 12, 2025.
