The event, one of the DSO\u2019s largest fundraisers, helps bring the magic of music to more than 200,000 North Texans each year through programs that nurture young musicians and bring free performances to neighborhoods across the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"20ff1\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"8e9a9e8e3b1810bed5c3713d197b3369\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%205307%203531'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1760320038_536_dso-gala-2025.jpg\" width=\"5307\" height=\"3531\" alt=\"DSO Gala 2025\"\/> David Cain, Vanessa Cain, Michelle Miller Burns, Gary Burns, Marena Gault, Roger Gault.Photo by Tamytha Cameron<\/p>\n<p>Leading the evening\u2019s festivities were gala chairs <strong>Vanessa and David Cain<\/strong>, with honorary co-chairs <strong>Erin Mathews<\/strong> and <strong>Ruth Ruhl<\/strong> and host committee chairs <strong>Dr. Courtney and Andrew Nall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the glittering crowd were <strong>Allison and Brett Brodnax<\/strong>, <strong>Marena and Roger Gault<\/strong>, <strong>Grace Cook<\/strong>, <strong>Kim and Greg Hext<\/strong>, <strong>Myrna and Robert Schlegel<\/strong>, <strong>Lisa and Bob Segert<\/strong>, <strong>Andy Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Paul von Wupperfeld<\/strong>, and <strong>Herb and Donna Weitzman<\/strong>, as well as Mayor Pro Tem <strong>Jesse Moreno<\/strong> and City Council Members <strong>Paul Ridley<\/strong> and <strong>Zarin Gracey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Meyerson lobby was nearly unrecognizable thanks to David Kimmel Design, which transformed the iconic space into a lush, futuristic garden glowing with ethereal mist, shimmering water features, and floral-inspired light installations. Photo by Tamytha Cameron         <\/p>\n<p>Bubbles flowed freely during the champagne reception before guests moved to dinner, where Sotheby\u2019s auctioneer <strong>Charlie Caulkins<\/strong> led a spirited live auction featuring dreamy luxury getaways. Hot-ticket items included a Napa Valley wine country escape, a Porsche driving experience in Atlanta, and stays at the Four Seasons in Vail and the Mandarin Oriental Ritz in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of the evening came when Capital One head of navigator products <strong>Annie Fallows<\/strong> presented <strong>Elias Gonzalez<\/strong>, a student from the DSO\u2019s Young Strings program, with the inaugural Capital One Outstanding Student Award. The $5,000 scholarship recognizes exceptional musical talent and dedication, and will help Gonzalez further his studies through new instruments, masterclasses, or college opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>After dinner, guests made their way into the Eugene McDermott Concert Hall, where DSO president and CEO <strong>Michelle Miller Burns<\/strong>, DSA board chair <strong>Roger Gault<\/strong>, and the Cains welcomed the crowd with heartfelt remarks. Burns thanked attendees and recognized the Eugene McDermott Foundation for sponsoring the 125th Anniversary Gala in loving memory of Morton H. Music director <strong>Fabio Luisi<\/strong> led the orchestra alongside artist-in-residence <strong>Leonidas Kavakos<\/strong> in a breathtaking program featuring Beethoven\u2019s \u201cEgmont Overture\u201d and Tchaikovsky\u2019s \u201cViolin Concerto.\u201d The Beethoven selection carried special resonance \u2014 it was first performed by the DSO under the legendary <strong>Georg Solti<\/strong> during his debut as music director in 1961.<\/p>\n<p>When the final notes faded, guests weren\u2019t ready for the night to end.
