While winning LIV Golf Dallas may not be enough on its own to earn Patrick Reed a spot on the Ryder Cup team, it has certainly opened up a debate over whether there could be a spot for the 2018 Masters champion on Keegan Bradley\u2019s side at Bethpage. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Patrick Reed<\/a> has now won on LIV Golf<\/a>, with the 34-year-old edging a four-man playoff in Dallas this past week. And with that, it has led to a debate over whether Reed could make the Ryder Cup<\/a> team in September.<\/p>\n

Reed has not played in the event since a pretty miserable week at Le Golf National in 2018. However, he was the star of the show in both 2014 and 2016, leading to Reed earning the nickname Captain America. <\/p>\n

But not everyone believes that it would be a good idea to pick Reed. <\/p>\n

Anthony Kim reacts to suggestion Keegan Bradley must not pick Patrick Reed for the Ryder Cup<\/p>\n

Golf Channel broadcaster Eamon Lynch made the case that many Europeans will hope to see Reed picked for Bethpage<\/a>. Lynch suggested that Reed would bring some toxicity to the team room having been involved in a number of controversial incidents during his career. <\/p>\n

Reed is definitely a divisive character in the game. But Anthony Kim<\/a> has hit out at the suggestion that he would be bad for the team room. <\/p>\n

As well as agreeing with someone who claimed that Reed needs to be on the team, Kim was pretty strong in his criticism of Lynch\u2019s view. <\/p>\n

What Keegan Bradley will surely do before picking Patrick Reed for the Ryder Cup<\/p>\n

Obviously, the bizarre name calling is completely unnecessary from Kim. But you could definitely understand why someone would disagree with Lynch\u2019s opinion. <\/p>\n

Brooks Koepka<\/a> and Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> both played their part in USA winning the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits, despite their differences over the years. <\/p>\n

You would imagine that Bradley would definitely speak to those who will be on the team about the idea of Reed being involved. Ultimately, unless Reed wins The Open Championship<\/a> this month, it is going to be something of a gamble whatever Bradley decides. <\/p>\n

And if Reed ends up getting one of the captain\u2019s picks for Bethpage, you can almost guarantee that figures such as Scottie Scheffler<\/a> and Xander Schauffele<\/a> would have given the decision their blessing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
