Meta recently unveiled Oakley Meta HSTN<\/a>, the company\u2019s latest smart glasses created in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica. Now, data miner and serial leaker \u2018Luna\u2019 has obtained images of what appears to be Meta\u2019s next pair of smart glasses, this time including a built-in display and wrist-worn controller.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Gurman reported in January<\/a> that Meta was working on two new pairs of smart glasses: a sportier unit styled by Oakley\u2014officially confirmed last month\u2014and a\u00a0high-end pair, codenamed \u2018Hypernova\u2019, which features a built-in display and gesture control thanks to the an electromyography (EMG) based wrist-worn controller.<\/p>\n

Gurman\u2019s report alleged that Hypernova is slated to debut sometime this year, priced between $1,000 and $1,400. With the discovery of images and tutorials by Luna, it\u2019s possible Meta is in the final stages of prepping for launch.<\/p>\n

Luna<\/a> posted a number of images and videos on X, including what appears to be product photos of Meta Hypernova and its wristband controller, codenamed \u2018Ceres\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ostensibly mined from recent Meta firmware releases, Luna says glasses will be named \u2018Meta Celeste\u2019.<\/p>\n

Provided the \u2018Meta Celeste\u2019 naming scheme is final, it would suggest Meta is pitching solo, and not cross-promoting like it does with Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta glasses.\u00a0Notably, \u2018Celeste\u2019 isn\u2019t a name used by any of the French-Italian conglomerate\u2019s various eyewear sub-brands.<\/p>\n

As seen in action with Meta\u2019s Orion AR glasses prototype<\/a>, the controller uses EMG to detect gestures, such as pinching and hand rotation for UI selection\u2014something touch and voice input can\u2019t really do that well. The version of the device below looks nearly identical, although it seems to be from a new tutorial.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, Luna\u2019s digging has come up with an alleged mini-game, called \u2018Hypertrail\u2019, that looks to make use of the device\u2019s controller and single display for a Galaga-inspired game that could leverage the user\u2019s physical location in some way.<\/p>\n
