\n\tSPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points from tonight\u2019s Season 3 premiere of the hit\u00a0CBS<\/a>\u00a0series\u00a0Elsbeth<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cYes, And\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tOn tonight\u2019s Season 3 premiere of Elsbeth, Carra Patterson<\/a> did not appear as Kaya Blanke, though there was an explanation about her absence. The actress stepped back from series regular duties in May<\/a>, as Deadline reported exclusively, saying she will return in the new season as a guest star.<\/p>\n

\n\tTo explain Kaya being off camera, the character was given a promotion from NYPD Officer to an undercover agent as part of a special task force in D.C. Captain Wallace said at the time, \u201cTraining starts right away. It will require extensive training in DC and undercover assignments.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTonight\u2019s episode picks up Kaya\u2019s storyline, explaining what she\u2019s working on in a conversation between Elsbeth and Cameron Clayden\u00a0(Sullivan Jones). <\/p>\n

\n\tCameron tells Elsbeth on the hush, \u201cI\u2019m not supposed to say anything,\u201d when she asks him about their mutual \u201cfriend.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAdding, \u201cI have spoken to her and she completed training, and has begun her first undercover assignment. And she sounds pretty damn happy about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKaya will officially appear in the third episode of Season 3, titled \u201cGood Grief,\u201d where her case intersects with a case Elsbeth is working on. Without giving away too much, Elsbeth and Kaya interact (photo above), but with the greatest of care so as not to blow Kaya\u2019s cover. The events of the finale of that episode set up Kaya\u2019s storyline for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAll I can say is, we love the relationship between Elsbeth and Kaya, and we love Carra Patterson. We hope to see Kaya on the show as much as we can,\u201d showrunner Jonathan Tolins said in an update about how much of Kaya we will get to see this season. <\/p>\n

\n\tTolins did not share an exact number of episodes we could expect to see Patterson appear in, but as previously mentioned, the finale of Episode 3 will allow for Kaya to disappear for a bit of time until she comes back into the picture.<\/p>\n

\n\tPatterson teed up how it would all be handled back in May.<\/p>\n
