Victor Wembanyama has returned from injury looking refreshed. The rookies, Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant, have impressed. New additions like Luke Kornet and Lindy Waters have played well. They’ll look to keep the good vibes going against last season’s Eastern Conference champions, the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers rested a good chunk of their starters in its previous preseason outing against the Oklahoma City Thunder. San Antonio may see close the Pacers close to full health on Monday (obviously, minus star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is out for the season). The Spurs will hope to see a few key contributors return to the court, as Stephon Castle and Jeremy Sochan are questionable for Monday’s contest.

The Spurs will likely get a better look at Harper on Monday, as he was eased in against the Utah Jazz in Friday’s win. The rookie guard looked good, tallying 9 points and 3 assists in 18 minutes. This will be a good test for the Spurs ball handlers, as the Pacers are known for their tough perimeter defense.

October 13th, 2025 | 6 PM CT

Watch: CW SA| Listen: WOAI (1200 AM)

Spurs Injuries: De’Aaron Fox – Out (hamstring), Kelly Olynyk – Questionable (heel), Stephon Castle – Questionable (knee), Jeremy Sochan – Questionable (calf), Jordan McLaughlin – Questionable (undisclosed)

Pacers Injuries: Ben Sheppard – Out (undisclosed), Aaron Nesmith – Questionable (rest), Andrew Nembhard – Questionable (rest), Pascal Siakim – Questionable (rest), Johnny Furphy – Questionable (ankle), Quenton Jackson – Questionable (hamstring), T.J. Shooting is thought to be San Antonio’s biggest weakness coming into the season, but the team has shot it well in 2 out of 3 preseason games. The Spurs three point shooting will be an important variable all season long, and one to track in the final games of the preseason.

Harper played as advertised in his preseason debut. He played well off the ball, and finished around the basket when he got to the rim. He knocked down a corner three, which is a huge shot for him moving forward. It’ll be interesting to see him get more primary ball-handling opportunities as the season progresses. Bryant’s defense has continued to be good against NBA competition. He knocked down two big threes on Friday night, a good sign for his development early in his career. The rookie will likely have to cut his teeth in Austin, but with Bryant’s combination of size, athleticism and motor, it may be hard to keep him out of the rotation for long.

End of the bench standouts

It’s been a mixed bag for the Spurs two-way and training camp invitees this preseason. They pulled out a big win on Friday night against players who are likely to figure into the Jazz’s rotation. Harrison Ingram and David Jones-Garcia look like strong two-way players who will provide good depth at the wing and combo guard positions Waters has shot the ball well, giving San Antonio another weapon at the end of the bench. Keep your eyes on Riley Minix and Adam Flagler as players who could have a major moment before the preseason is over.

The preseason has been kind to the San Antonio Spurs so far.
