(Supplied: Magistrates Court of Victoria)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The couple had originally been charged over damage to the museum valued at $118,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Further damage was allegedly caused to items at other sites including the Bendigo Town Hall, The Great Stupa monument, a military museum, cathedral and cemetery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The court also heard on Monday there was a dispute over whether the couple intended to cause damage to the items, which included statues, military plaques and a Jewish monument.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The court previously heard police alleged the pair appeared to avoid being seen by others while CCTV showed them sprinkling oil on the monuments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Snyman&#8217;s lawyer Marko Habib told the court only minimal amounts of oil were deposited in a &#8220;religious act&#8221;, and the couple believed it could be wiped off or would wash off in the weather.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Dark stains on two plaques.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/395fb06a821fbc297b5f48b2db4537d0\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">There was alleged damage to plaques at the Bendigo Town Hall.
