(Image from live feed)<\/p>\n<p>San Diego business and political leaders sought to strengthen the economic relationship with their Mexican counterparts Monday during the <a href=\"https:\/\/sdchamber.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regional Chamber of Commerce<\/a>\u2018s 19th annual cross-border trade mission.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation includes more than 110 people from both San Diego and Baja California, including the mayors of multiple cities and Mexican economic development specialists,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shared prosperity of San Diego and Tijuana depends upon collaboration. We are two cities, but one interconnected region linked by family, culture and commerce,\u201d said San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria in a video press conference from Mexico City.<\/p>\n<p>His counterpart, Ismael Burgue\u00f1o from Tijuana, echoed that, saying, \u201cOur objectives are clear: to reinforce our institutional presence before authorities and organizations on both sides of the border; to promote infrastructure and regional development projects; and to solidify our strategic relationship with the private sector of our neighboring country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gloria said he views the mission as an \u201copportunity to advocate for trade policy that benefits our businesses, as well as to press for additional, substantive action to address the Tijuana River Valley sewage crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trade mission began Sunday and continues through Wednesday. The group will meet with Mexican leaders and government officials to strengthen economic ties and explore collaboration opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese conversations in Mexico City give us the chance to directly advocate for the priorities that matter most to our region\u2019s businesses and families.
