{"id":301177,"date":"2025-10-13T23:48:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T23:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/301177\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T23:48:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T23:48:10","slug":"walk-of-fame-star-honoring-naomi-watts-unveiled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/301177\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk of Fame Star Honoring Naomi Watts Unveiled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled Monday honoring Naomi Watts for a career that has included Oscar nominations for her performances in \u201c21 Grams\u201d and \u201cThe Impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edward Norton and Ryan Murphy were among those joining Watts at the ceremony at 6201 Hollywood Blvd., between Argyle Avenue and Gower Street.<\/p>\n<p>Norton and Watts were castmates in the 2015 Oscar best picture winner \u201cBirdman\u201d and the 2006 drama \u201cThe Painted Veil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murphy produced four of Watts\u2019 television projects \u2014 the 2022 Netflix mystery horror series, \u201cThe Watcher,\u201d FX\u2019s \u201cFeud: Capote vs. The Swans,\u201d the Hulu legal drama \u201cAll\u2019s Fair\u201d and the FX romance anthology \u201cLove Story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts said that when she learned whe was receive the honor, \u201cI felt overcome with gratitude for everyone who\u2019s helped me get to this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She offered special thanks to \u201cmy mother, Miv, who taught me about the joys of make-believe; (director) David Lynch, who taught me that art has no limits; and (director\/producer Ryan Murphy, who taught me there\u2019s still so much more to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony came 22 days before the Nov. 4 premiere of \u201cAll\u2019s Fair,\u201d in which Watts plays a member of a team of female divorce attorneys who leave a male-dominated firm to open their own firm.<\/p>\n<p>The star is the 2,825th since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961 with the initial 1,558 stars.<\/p>\n<p>Born in the village of Shoreham in Southeast England on Sept. 28, 1968, Watts\u2019 parents divorced when she was 4 years old. After the divorce, their mother moved several times with Watts and her older brother Ben within South East England, then to Wales and back to England.<\/p>\n<p>Watts and her mother and brother moved to Australia when she was 14.<\/p>\n<p>Watts made her acting debut in the 1986 Australian film, \u201cFor Love Alone,\u201d then appeared in various Australian movies and television programs. She had her first lead role in the 1993 Australian thriller film, \u201cGross Misconduct,\u201d as a student at an all-girls academy who is a fervent admirer of her married philosophy professor (Jimmy Smits).<\/p>\n<p>Watts\u2019 first American movie was the 1995 science fiction film \u201cTank Girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts\u2019 breakthrough role came in the 2001 surrealist neo-noir mystery art film \u201cMulholland Drive,\u201d portraying an aspiring actress.<\/p>\n<p>Watts received her first Oscar nomination in 2004 for best actress for her portrayal of a woman who relapses into substance abuse after her husband is killed in a hit-and-run collision in \u201c21 Grams.\u201d The Oscar went to Charlize Theron for her portrayal of real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in \u201cMonster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts received her second Oscar nomination in 2013, also for best actress, in the true-life story \u201cThe Impossible\u201d as a physician who survived the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami while on vacation in Thailand with her husband and three children.<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar that year went to Jennifer Lawrence for her role in \u201cSilver Linings Playbook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts\u2019 other film credits include \u201cSt. Vincent,\u201d \u201cMother and Child,\u201d the 2005 version of \u201cKing Kong,\u201d \u201cThe Ring\u201d and its sequel, \u201cThe Ring Two.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts received an outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie Emmy in 2024 for her portrayal of socialite and magazine editor Babe Paley in \u201cFeud: Capote vs. The Swans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watts portrays Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the first season of \u201cLove Story,\u201d which retells the courtship of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
