Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton,<\/a> who passed away on October 11, 2025 at age 79, had a well-documented love<\/a> for historic architecture, buying and flipping numerous landmark residences throughout her lifetime. In 2007, she acquired the Alfred Newman House, built in 1948 by Lloyd Wright, son of the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright. She spearheaded a major restoration and listed the home in 2010 for $13.25 million.<\/a> Per data from Redfin, the five-bedroom midcentury-modern residence ultimately sold in 2020<\/a> for $9.25 million. <\/p>\n In February of this year, the new owner listed the 1.4-acre property for $12.9 million, only for it to be removed from the MLS (multiple listing service) and re-listed twice more with price adjustments to match, according to Zillow.<\/a> It was most recently on the market for $10.4 million with Frank Langen at Compass before it was taken off the market completely on September 30<\/a>, without selling. <\/p>\n The Alfred Newman House was built in 1948. Its architect was Lloyd Wright, son of the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright.<\/p>\n During her time as owner, Keaton renovated<\/a> the kitchen and spearheaded the restoration of the home\u2019s custom woodwork and built-in furnishings, both architectural hallmarks that the younger Wright inherited from his father. The actress also put her own stamp on the primary bedroom, which occupies the entire second floor, turning it into a loft space. <\/p>\n Keaton bought the home in 2007 and spearheaded a renovation that included transforming the primary suite. <\/p>\n Wright originally built the 4,400-square-foot home for Oscar-winning composer Alfred Newman<\/a> (How the West Was Won, All About Eve). The brick-and-concrete home, which features a steeply pitched roof in contrast with typical midcentury designs, also comes with an outdoor kitchen, pool, and detached music studio. <\/p>\n A brick fireplace in the second-floor bedroom.<\/p>\n Keaton had an apparent passion for designs by the younger Wright. In the 1990s, she bought and restored the architect\u2019s 1928 Samuel Novarro Residence,<\/a> a dramatic Mayan Revival retreat in Los Feliz. She collaborated with architect Josh Schweitzer on the restoration.
