{"id":301466,"date":"2025-10-14T02:17:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T02:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/301466\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T02:17:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T02:17:10","slug":"cta-announces-fare-pass-increases-for-2026-3-day-pass-eliminated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/301466\/","title":{"rendered":"CTA announces fare, pass increases for 2026; 3-day pass eliminated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago Transit Authority announced its planned 2026 fare and pass price increases as the agency faces a fiscal cliff.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/rta-budget-gap-revised-reports-illinois-lawmakers-must-approve-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Regional Transportation Authority<\/a> has mandated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/metra-fare-increase-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Metra<\/a>, Pace and CTA all implement a fare increase of at least 10% in 2026 to address major budget shortfalls while it still seeks solutions from state lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>Monday CTA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transitchicago.com\/assets\/1\/6\/FY2026_Budget_Book.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">released its budget<\/a> for 2026, outlining the fare hikes for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>CTA said that in 2026, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transitchicago.com\/fares\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">base fare<\/a> for both bus and rail increases $0.25, from $2.50 to $2.75. <\/p>\n<p>Unlimited-ride pass prices will also increase.
