A taqueria<\/a> in Carrollton received the honor of being included on review platform Yelp\u2019s national Top 100 Taco Spots list.<\/a><\/p>\n

Coming in at No. 30, Taquer\u00eda & Tamaler\u00eda Nuevo Le\u00f3n was the only taco shop in Dallas-Fort Worth to make the popular list, along with eight other taquer\u00edas in Texas.<\/p>\n

The spot has been recommended by word of mouth for years, known for its authentic Mexican cuisine.<\/p>\n

Antonio Quintanilla, owner of Taquer\u00eda & Tamaler\u00eda Nuevo Le\u00f3n<\/a>, feels the best part is the recognition comes from his customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe never thought they would help us get this far,\u201d Quintanilla told The Dallas Morning News. \u201cWe have several restaurants, and none of them are franchises. This is a 100% family business.\u201d<\/p>\n

The taqueria\u2019s story began in 2015, in a convenience store at a gas station on the corner of N First Street and W Buckingham Road in Garland. There are now five locations, several of which opened during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the concept employs more than 150 people. Its Carrollton location on Belt Line Road received the Yelp distinction.<\/p>\n

Originally from Linares, Nuevo Le\u00f3n, a city 650 miles south of Dallas, Antonio and Doris Quintanilla began by selling tacos and tamales.<\/p>\n

Much of their success is due to the fact that they not only sell classic dishes, such as fajita, birria and barbacoa tacos, but have also incorporated traditional dishes from their state, such as chicharr\u00f3n and empalmes. Both are served inside tortillas fried in lard and stuffed with meat.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur next step is to expand to Allen or McKinney<\/a>,\u201d Quintanilla said. \u201cAlways maintaining that flavor and homemade touch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yelp\u2019s annual list is compiled from millions of reviews and ratings from users who evaluate their favorite places.<\/p>\n

This year, California had the most taquerias, with 45 out of 100, followed by Texas with nine, Arizona with eight and Hawaii with seven.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very honored to be the taco ambassadors representing Dallas-Fort Worth,\u201d said Quintanilla. \u201cIt\u2019s a huge commitment to our customers and the entire community.\u201d<\/p>\n
