Oct. 14 (UPI) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it is investigating the death of former Sen. Mitt Romney<\/a>‘s sister-in-law, whose body was found at a parking garage.<\/p>\n

Authorities found the body of Carrie Romney, 64, around 8:30 p.m. Friday outside a parking garage on Town Center Drive in Santa Clarita, Calif. The garage was near the Hyatt Regency hotel.\n<\/p>\n

Unnamed law enforcement officials told KNBC-TV<\/a>, Los Angeles, on Monday that she had jumped or fell from the five-story structure.<\/p>\n

The LACSD told ABC News<\/a> it was investigating Carrie Romney’s death, the cause of which had been “deferred” pending toxicology results.<\/p>\n

Authorities told KNBC the woman’s death doesn’t appear to involve foul play.<\/p>\n

Mitt Romney represented Utah in the U.S. Senate from 2019 until earlier this year. He was also the governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007.<\/p>\n

In a statement to People magazine<\/a>, he asked for privacy in the wake of Carrie Romney’s death.<\/p>\n

“Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Carrie, who brought warmth and love to all of our lives,” the statement said.<\/p>\n

Carrie Romney was married to the politician’s older brother, Scott Romney, a lawyer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sen.
