{"id":303098,"date":"2025-10-14T16:48:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/303098\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:48:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:48:16","slug":"jj-lays-out-plan-to-splinter-orthopedics-business-into-separate-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/303098\/","title":{"rendered":"J&#038;J lays out plan to splinter orthopedics business into separate company"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Johnson &amp; Johnson is narrowing its focus again, nearly four years after peeling off its <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-johnson-and-johnson-health-prescription-drugs-be49e5beca59dfcb3457be62f4cfa2e9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:consumer health business;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">consumer health business<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The health care giant said Tuesday that it will separate its orthopedics business into a standalone company known as DePuy Synthes. The move leaves J&amp;J focused on its pharmaceutical and MedTech segments, which make prescription drugs, contact lenses and technology to treat cardiovascular disease and help with surgeries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The orthopedics business will be led by Namal Nawana, a former CEO of the medical technology business Smith &amp; Nephew, which makes products for sports medicine and wound management and also focuses on orthopedics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">J&amp;J\u2019s orthopedics business pulled in more than $9 billion in sales last year. But the company said the split will help it focus on higher-growth areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The company expects to complete the move over the next 18 to 24 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">J&amp;J announced in November, 2021, that it would turn its consumer health business, which makes Band-Aids, Listerine and Tylenol into a separate company that later became known as Kenvue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">New Brunswick, New Jersey-based Johnson &amp; Johnson also reported on Tuesday better-than-expected third-quarter earnings and reaffirmed its adjusted earnings guidance for the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Company shares slipped more than $2 to $188.74 in premarket trading.
