{"id":303183,"date":"2025-10-14T17:32:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T17:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/303183\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T17:32:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T17:32:09","slug":"patrick-dugan-gets-endorsement-from-andrew-yangs-forward-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/303183\/","title":{"rendered":"Patrick Dugan gets endorsement from Andrew Yang&#8217;s Forward Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The Forward Party, an independent third party founded by entrepreneur-turned-presidential-candidate Andrew Yang, has endorsed <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/patrick-dugan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Patrick Dugan<\/a> to be Philadelphia district attorney, providing a centrist backing for <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/patrick-dugan-gop-write-in-votes-pennsylvania-primary-election-2025-20250520.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/patrick-dugan-gop-write-in-votes-pennsylvania-primary-election-2025-20250520.html\">the Republican nominee.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Dugan, a former Municipal Court judge who is challenging progressive Democratic incumbent District Attorney <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/larry-krasner\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Larry Krasner<\/a>, announced the endorsement during a news conference outside City Hall on Tuesday, framing it as evidence that he is a \u201cunity candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cThis race is bigger than the left, the right, the red, the blue,\u201d said Dugan, a registered Democrat who lost to Krasner in the spring primary and <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/larry-krasner-pat-dugan-democratic-party-divide-progressive-centrist-20250923.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/larry-krasner-pat-dugan-democratic-party-divide-progressive-centrist-20250923.html\">is now running as the GOP nominee<\/a> following a successful write-in campaign <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/pat-dugan-larry-krasner-philly-da-election-20250809.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/pat-dugan-larry-krasner-philly-da-election-20250809.html\">organized by the city\u2019s Republican Party.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Yang, the former Democratic candidate for both president and New York City mayor, did not appear at the news conference Tuesday. Robert Grabel, a representative from the Forward Party\u2019s Pennsylvania chapter, said the group is backing Dugan because \u201che\u2019s focused on doing the job, not on political labels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Dugan said he\u2019s hopeful the endorsement will provide a jolt to the sleepy general election campaign to be Philadelphia\u2019s top prosecutor. With just three weeks until Election Day on Nov. 4, <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/philly-da-race-krasner-dugan-general-election-20251002.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/philly-da-race-krasner-dugan-general-election-20251002.html\">there\u2019s been little in the way of campaigning or advertising<\/a> by either candidate, and there have not been any public events featuring both of them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p type-interstitial text-primary\"><b>\u00bb READ MORE: <a data-link-type=\"interstitial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/philly-da-race-krasner-dugan-general-election-20251002.html\" class=\"no-underline text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Philly DA\u2019s race is seeing little money and even less noise with one month to go<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Any Republican campaign for citywide office is a long shot in Philadelphia, where registered <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/democratic-party\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Democrats<\/a> outnumber <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/republican-party\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Republicans<\/a> more than 6-to-1. Krasner <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/how-larry-krasner-won-da-election-20250521.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/how-larry-krasner-won-da-election-20250521.html\">beat Dugan in the May Democratic primary<\/a> by 28 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Campaign finance papers filed last month show Dugan has struggled to fundraise, bringing in just $26,000 since announcing he would run as the Republican nominee to challenge Krasner again.
