{"id":30342,"date":"2025-07-01T16:53:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T16:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/30342\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T16:53:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T16:53:08","slug":"iowa-launches-new-system-to-make-mental-health-substance-use-care-more-accessible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/30342\/","title":{"rendered":"Iowa launches new system to make mental health, substance use care more accessible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) &#8211; Iowa is launching a new system to make mental health and substance use care more accessible, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/iowa-launches-new-statewide-behavioral-health-system-july-1\/65257972\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/iowa-launches-new-statewide-behavioral-health-system-july-1\/65257972\">KCCI reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A law aimed at restructuring the state\u2019s mental health, substance use, and disability services was passed last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The new system is being implemented Tuesday, and moves the state from 32 separate mental health and disability regions to seven bigger behavioral health districts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe goal of this system is that regardless of where you live at, you get the same level of care,\u201d said the director of the state\u2019s Aging and Disability Services Division, Zach Rhein.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials report that Iowans receiving services should not see a difference in care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">However, providers will notice less paperwork and simplified operations due to the new system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Iowa\u2019s Behavioral Health Division Director Marissa Eyanson said the new model will provide consistency statewide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The new system includes the implementation of behavioral health system navigators. A free, 24\/7 phone and online service titled Your Life Iowa allows Iowans to connect with navigators, who assist in finding resources for \u201cmental illness, substance use, problem gambling or tobacco and nicotine dependence,\u201d according to KCCI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Prevention and early intervention are also major focuses of the new system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to officials, the changes only apply to state-funded services, and will not impact Medicaid or Medicaid waivers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCCI.
