Naturally, Joe\u2019s Pizza<\/a> made the cut. The West Village icon has been perfecting the art of the foldable slice since 1975, serving that ideal combination of thin, chewy crust, tangy sauce and blistered cheese that defines the genre. The pies are always fresh from the oven\u2014sometimes too fresh, if you\u2019re not careful\u2014and best eaten standing on the sidewalk with a paper plate. Just a quick stroll away in Nolita, Rubirosa<\/a> continues to draw crowds with its impossibly thin crusts and vodka-sauce masterpiece, a pie so beloved it\u2019s practically canon in New York\u2019s pizza lore.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn, of course, shows up in style. F&F Pizzeria<\/a>, tucked between Frankies 457 Spuntino<\/a> and Franks Wine Bar in Carroll Gardens, is a minimalist slice shop in a converted garage. Its crisp, charred crust and short list of toppings\u2014like the brown butter and sage sausage\u2014turn pizza into a kind of quiet art form. Over in Park Slope, Brooklyn DOP<\/a> delivers the same reverence for dough, offering a margherita that\u2019s all airy crust, bright sauce and balance. It\u2019s as close to Naples as you\u2019ll get without a boarding pass.<\/p>\n

Beyond the city, upstate and Long Island show they\u2019re no slouches either. The Pizzeria in Islip, Tino\u2019s in Oneonta and Pizza Wizard in Rochester all earned nods from DoorDash diners, proving that excellence doesn\u2019t stop at the five boroughs. But it\u2019s the New York City classics that define the state\u2019s pizza identity\u2014the spots where lines snake down the block and every bite feels like a love letter to simplicity.<\/p>\n

\u201cPizza brings people together,\u201d said Ruth Isenstadt, head of U.S. restaurants at DoorDash. \u201cEvery region and chef puts their own spin on a classic, and that creativity is what makes it so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
