\u201cMy wife and I had a great conversation. We were visiting our daughter in Fort Lewis, Washington. She\u2019s a soldier as well. And we\u2019re just trying to just figure out what should I do? And I was like, maybe I should do maybe I should do, you know, men\u2019s basketball. And she was like, no, you love women\u2019s basketball. Why don\u2019t you just do that? And I was like, ding, ding, ding, that\u2019s what I\u2019m gonna do. And I\u2019ve been doing it ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams recognized Staley\u2019s hiring at South Carolina in 2008 as a pivotal moment for the program. Deployed to Iraq at the time, he still got the news and immediately understood its significance. \u201cI knew that it was a game changer for the program. I knew, at that time, we weren\u2019t any good. And she changed everything. It took, it was increment growth over time.
