{"id":304141,"date":"2025-10-15T01:50:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T01:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/304141\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T01:50:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T01:50:10","slug":"former-ohio-state-jets-center-nick-mangold-opens-up-about-genetic-defect-is-seeking-kidney-donor-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/304141\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Ohio State, Jets center Nick Mangold opens up about genetic defect, is seeking kidney donor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former All-Pro center <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/nick-mangold-92711\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Mangold<\/a><\/strong> went to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he is seeking a kidney donor.<\/p>\n<p>Mangold, who played at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/ohio-state-buckeyes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ohio State<\/a><\/strong> from 2002-2005 before being drafted by the New York Jets (where he played from 2006-2019), revealed that he was diagnosed with a genetic defect that led to chronic kidney disease in 2006. 19 years later, Mangold is undergoing dialysis and is now in need of a kidney donor with Type O blood.<\/p>\n<p>His <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nickmangold\/status\/1978189186248187918\" rel=\"nofollow\">entire statement<\/a> is below:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo my NY Jets &amp; <strong>Ohio State Buckeyes<\/strong> communities, this isn\u2019t an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what\u2019s been happening with me in my health,\u201d Mangold wrote. \u201cIn 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease. After a rough summer, I\u2019m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have had more time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, I do not have any family able to donate at this time, so this is why I\u2019m reaching out to you, our NY Jets and Ohio State communities. I am in need of a kidney donor with type O blood.
