SAN ANTONIO- Harry Aderholt, 70, alleges that an investment company misled him into signing over his house, leaving him homeless after the property was sold to a third party.<\/p>\n

Aderholt, who was struggling with foreclosure, said representatives offered him a new mortgage with an 8% loan to help him out of debt.<\/p>\n

“I felt lost, up a creek without a paddle,” Aderholt said. After signing the documents and making payments, he discovered his home had been sold, leading to his eviction last Friday. <\/p>\n

His belongings were left on the lawn, and his pet bird, Pepper, now lives in his car. <\/p>\n

Aderholt filed a police report and has received pro bono legal assistance. <\/p>\n

Local officials note that such cases are part of a growing problem in Texas. <\/p>\n

The county clerk’s office advises individuals to seek legal advice before signing documents and offers partnerships with legal service associations for free help. <\/p>\n

Aderholt remains hopeful about reclaiming his home, saying, “That’s all I can do, just go with the flow.” <\/p>\n
