Reddick\u2019s son, <strong>Rookie<\/strong>, has been undergoing a series of medical procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexa Reddick<\/strong>, Tyler\u2019s wife, has routinely posted updates on her Instagram about Rookie\u2019s condition. She posted another on Tuesday, fresh out of a surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRookie came back one kidney lighter,\u201d Alexa wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jeff_gluck\/status\/1978286518629290385\">per a screenshot shared by The Athletic\u2019s <strong>Jeff Gluck<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cHe is recovering and still coming out of anesthesia. The surgery went well and his team is confident he will not need treatment after.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next couple days he will be sore so I will take a break here while we get him over this hump. They are watching his BP &amp; heart to see how they are responding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through it all, Tyler Reddick has continued racing. And he\u2019s done fairly well, all things considered.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the issues with Rookie began to come to light publicly around the Kansas weekend, when his plans were made known. Tyler Reddick did not have a backup driver for the race at Kansas on Sept. 28, when Rookie was in the ICU undergoing tests after showing signs of heart failure.<\/p>\n<p>Reddick spoke to the challenges at the time. He outlined just how hard things have been.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s difficult, it\u2019s not what you want for your kids,\u201d Reddick said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/tyler-reddick-gives-update-on-four-month-old-son-rookie-amid-tricky-health-situation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not, as a father, my first son, Beau\u2019s hit his head, bruised himself up, cut himself up, but yeah. What my son Rookie is going through is serious. A tricky situation and just more than anything, just ready to get on a plane and go home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Somehow, despite the challenges, Tyler Reddick has remained extremely competitive on the track. He finished in seventh at Kansas, then notched a tenth-place finish at the Roval, before landing a fifth-place finish at Las Vegas this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Suffice it to say, though, that everyone in the NASCAR community is pulling for Rookie. Hopefully his latest procedure will clear the issues as anticipated, with Alexa\u2019s Tuesday update offering encouragement on that front.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s been a trying year for Tyler Reddick and his family, for reasons wholly unrelated to racing.
