A well-known music venue and restaurant in Chicago will unexpectedly close its doors for good.<\/p>\n
The Promontory has been a fixture in the Hyde Park neighborhood for more than a decade, but the owners announced on social media this week that the venue will close its doors at the end of the year. <\/p>\n
“At the end of this year, we will turn off the lights at The Promontory for the last time,” the post read.<\/p>\n
Their New Year’s Eve party will be their last.<\/p>\n
In their message, the venue thanked its customers and employees, but no reason for the unexpected closure was given. <\/p>\n
“We hope to welcome you in one more time,” the venue wrote. <\/p>\n
Commenters flocked to the post, many expressing disappointment in the closure and others sharing their beloved memories from the venue. <\/p>\n
“This is truly unfortunate that we are losing this beloved gem of our city\u2019s southside!
