{"id":305855,"date":"2025-10-15T17:02:22","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T17:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/305855\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T17:02:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T17:02:22","slug":"sliding-screens-of-woven-timber-ventilate-house-in-corjeum-by-field-atelier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/305855\/","title":{"rendered":"Sliding screens of woven timber ventilate House in Corjeum by Field Atelier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local studio Field Atelier has completed a breezy home near Goa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">India<\/a>, which is wrapped by verandas sheltered by sliding timber <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/screens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">screens<\/a> and folding metal doors.<\/p>\n<p>Named House in Corjeum after the village in which it is located, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/houses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">home<\/a> is organised around a central courtyard with an existing cluster of trees and a stone well.<\/p>\n<p>It is elevated on a concrete plinth to mitigate the risk of flooding during the monsoon season, while verandas, sheltered by woven timber screens and metal-framed mosquito nets, encircle the house to provide natural light and air.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2258467 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/house-in-corjeum-field-atelier-india_dezeen_2364_col_2-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"Entrance to House in Corjeum near Goa\" width=\"1773\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Field Atelier has completed a breezy home in India<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The house is envisaged as a collection of verandas, each expandable in its nature to absorb functions,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/fieldatelier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Field Atelier<\/a>&#8216;s project architect Teja Amonkar told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The constant awareness of the exterior landscape seen through various apertures is what provides one with moments of intrigue as one traverses through the different spaces,&#8221; added fellow project architect Yatin Fulari.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The house is therefore imagined as a pavilion or a stage to view the gardens and its seasonal unfolding,&#8221; Fulari added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2258469 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/house-in-corjeum-field-atelier-india_dezeen_2364_col_4-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"Courtyard at House in Corjeum by Field Atelier\" width=\"1773\" height=\"2364\"  \/>It is arranged around a courtyard<\/p>\n<p>Accessed via the western wing of the home&#8217;s U-shaped plan, the entrance route is formed by a long veranda overlooking the courtyard, which passes the main bedroom to spill out into the central living and dining space.<\/p>\n<p>This large living area opens onto the courtyard via folding metal doors and onto an additional south-facing veranda through sliding glass and metal doors. Here, an outdoor dining space is situated beneath an overhanging section of the roof.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2258471 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/house-in-corjeum-field-atelier-india_dezeen_2364_col_6-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"Corridor within home by Field Atelier\" width=\"1773\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Timber screens and\u00a0metal doors enclose the home<\/p>\n<p>A kitchen, utility room and bathroom are tucked away on either side of this open central space, alongside a staircase leading up to a smaller first floor where there is an additional bedroom, bathroom and lounge.<\/p>\n<p>In the home&#8217;s eastern wing, a slightly sunken study enjoys a more private relationship to the garden through folding wooden shutters. A large door looks north towards a small, standalone guest annexe.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/09\/30\/160-year-old-goan-home-grounded-toybox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/toybox-grounded-adaptive-reuse-house-goa-india-residential-architecture_dezeen_2364_col_sq-191x191.j.jpeg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Toybox, Goa by Grounded\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"  \/><\/p>\n<p> Grounded adapts 160-year-old Goan home for contemporary living\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The living and dining area, along with the deep veranda in the south, form a seamless space connecting the entire site,&#8221;
