The co-hosts of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View<\/a>\u201d acknowledged Tuesday that they\u2019d like more Republican guests to appear on the talk show.<\/p>\n

After actress Cheryl Hines<\/a>, wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a>, appeared on the program, the show\u2019s liberal co-hosts remarked that they\u2019d like more guests who aren\u2019t aligned with them politically, adding that some Republicans are \u201cscared\u201d to come on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we should have more Republicans on the show. They\u2019re scared of us,\u201d co-host Joy Behar said.<\/p>\n

The co-hosts\u00a0questioned Hines\u00a0about her husband\u2019s work in the Trump administration, leading to a tense exchange between the actress and co-host Sunny Hostin<\/a>, who accused Kennedy Jr. of being the \u201cleast qualified Department of Health and Human Services head that we have had in history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hines pushed back, responding that an HHS secretary during the Obama administration had an economics background.<\/p>\n

When Hostin accused Kennedy of spreading misinformation, Hines responded by citing what she said were inaccuracies promoted by Dr. Anthony Fauci<\/a> during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Despite the back-and-forth, the segment ended cordially, with\u00a0Whoopi Goldberg<\/a>\u00a0inviting Hines to return in the future.<\/p>\n

Goldberg continued, \u201cBecause we don\u2019t often get people on this show who we can ask these questions to, and I appreciate that you came on, and so I\u2019m saying come back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin added, \u201cI would love for your husband to come on.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Hines left, Goldberg told viewers, \u201cThat was interesting. But that\u2019s the great thing about \u2018The View,\u2019 you know, we want people to come and give their views, and everyone who comes here, we try to be respectful, and we ask tough questions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask tough questions because we\u2019re otherwise speculating,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Behar remarked that Republicans are too \u201cscared\u201d to come on the program and referenced Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who\u00a0recently said<\/a>\u00a0there are \u201ca lot of weak Republican men and they\u2019re more afraid of strong Republican women.\u201d<\/p>\n

Behar added, \u201cWell, that might be true of all political persuasions. But if they would come on this show and they can explain to us what they\u2019re trying to do to this country, I\u2019d like to hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that\u00a0Sen. Ted Cruz<\/a>, R-Texas, had previously appeared on the show and suggested other GOP lawmakers who could make interesting guests, such as Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.<\/p>\n

Hostin added, \u201cI do think it\u2019s important that Robert Kennedy Jr. comes on this show.
