CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WITN) – A popular Charlotte-based radio program announced this morning that it will stop after the year ends.<\/p>\n
Launched in 1980, the Big Show with John Boy & Billy was a tradition for North Carolinians, entertaining listeners who tuned into the radio during their morning drive.<\/p>\n
John Boy Isley and Billy James made the surprise announcement on WSFL 106.5 FM.<\/p>\n
The radio duo said that, although they are wrapping up their radio presence, they will be active on other platforms, such as Facebook.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Big Show will be retiring at the end of the year. I want to thank all the stations that are still carrying us, and I invite you to follow the John Boy & Billy Facebook page,\u201d Co-host Isley said. \u201cSo, that\u2019s a good way to keep up with us, go ahead and start now, \u2018cuz\u2026 you know, we\u2019re going to do something!\u201d<\/p>\n
The team expressed their gratitude to those who have tuned in over the years. <\/p>\n
\u201cA major thank you to all our listeners. There are kids who have been listening since junior high school, and parents who have had their kids and grandkids listen,\u201d Producer Jackie Curry-Lynch said. \u201cWe could not have done it all these years without the listeners.\u201d <\/p>\n
