The first, which <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/spacex-launches-1st-21-satellites-for-advanced-new-us-military-constellation\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/spacex-launches-1st-21-satellites-for-advanced-new-us-military-constellation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">occurred on Sept. 10<\/a>, also sent 21 satellites up from Vandenberg aboard a Falcon 9.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"acfea31b-9894-405a-a918-faa686b3e326-1\">Colorado-based company York Space Systems built those spacecraft. The satellites that launched today, however, were manufactured by aerospace giant Lockheed Martin.<\/p>\n<p>Northrop Grumman also scored an SDA contract for T1TL satellites. Each of these three companies will provide 42 spacecraft for the nascent constellation.<\/p>\n<p id=\"72b95026-58df-411b-8f60-289f36edc233\">T1TL will be part of a larger LEO constellation, hundreds of satellites strong, that the SDA calls the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Breaking space news, the latest updates on rocket launches, skywatching events and more!<\/p>\n<p>The PWSA satellites will be spread across <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/News-Stories\/Article\/Article\/3722921\/proliferation-remains-best-deterrence-against-threats-to-us-space-access\/#:~:text=The%20PWSA%20involves%20seven%20layers,battle%20management%20and%20support%20layers.\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/News-Stories\/Article\/Article\/3722921\/proliferation-remains-best-deterrence-against-threats-to-us-space-access\/#:~:text=The%20PWSA%20involves%20seven%20layers,battle%20management%20and%20support%20layers.\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">seven &#8220;layers&#8221;<\/a> \u2014 battle management, custody, deterrence, navigation, (missile) tracking, transport and support. This broad network will be refreshed <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sda.mil\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tranche-1-Factsheet_FINAL_06.10.2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.sda.mil\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tranche-1-Factsheet_FINAL_06.10.2024.pdf\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">every two years<\/a>, keeping the SDA&#8217;s space assets agile and up to date.<\/p>\n<p>Previous Booster 1093 launches<\/p>\n<p id=\"3cdbbbaa-d28b-4768-8f43-c88256d3d013\">The Falcon 9&#8217;s first stage came back to Earth about 8.5 minutes after liftoff today as planned, landing in the Pacific Ocean on the drone ship &#8220;Of Course I Still Love You.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It was the seventh launch and landing for this particular booster, which is designated B1093. It also launched SpaceX&#8217;s first T1TL mission on Sept. 10, as well as five flights carrying the company&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-satellites.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-satellites.html&#039;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Starlink<\/a> broadband satellites.<\/p>\n<p>The Falcon 9&#8217;s upper stage, meanwhile, continued hauling the 21 satellites to LEO.
