The French government has issued high-level heat wave alerts across 84 areas.<\/p>\n<p>Completed in 1889 for the World\u2019s Fair in Paris, the Eiffel Tower was originally intended as a temporary structure. But it quickly became a national symbol, and is now one of the most visited monuments in the world.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, French far-right leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/marine-le-pen-air-conditioning-france-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marine Le Pen criticized<\/a> the government\u2019s handling of the crisis, calling for \u201ca major air conditioning equipment plan\u201d and claiming ordinary citizens are left to endure the heat while \u201cso-called French elites\u201d remain in climate-controlled environments.<\/p>\n<p>The weather has also impacted other European landmarks.
