AP<\/p>\nForty-six days after he threw his only career NFL touchdown pass, Davis Webb was coaching future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson.<\/p>\n
Webb\u2019s rare jump directly from the playing field with the Giants to Broncos quarterbacks coach \u2014 plus his work last season with 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist Bo Nix \u2014 has him considered a rising star in the profession.<\/p>\n
The Giants will see Webb \u2014 their 2017 third-round draft pick and a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of Brian Daboll\u2019s with the Bills and during his second stint as a backup with Big Blue in 2022 \u2014 on the opposing sideline Sunday in Denver. <\/p>\n
Wilson will be on the Giants sideline.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought Davis was great,\u201d Wilson told The Post, recalling his reaction to finding out in February 2023 that his quarterbacks coach was going to be younger than him and a first-timer. \u201cHe\u2019s extremely intelligent. He is passionate about the work. I always heard that he was coaching while he was playing. You feel his preparation, his mentality and his know-how of playing the position.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Broncos declined The Post\u2019s request to interview Webb about his Giants days and meshing together what he has learned from Daboll and his current boss, Sean Payton. Webb called plays for the Broncos in a preseason game as a reward from Payton.<\/p>\n
Daboll started Webb in the 2022 finale \u2014 after the Giants had already clinched a playoff berth \u2014 and he threw a touchdown pass to Kenny Golladay (his only score in two seasons) and ran for another against the Eagles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncredibly smart,\u201d Daboll said. \u201cCould see the game the right way. He offered a lot of good insight in those meetings. Someone I have a great deal of respect for. Now on the coaching side of it, I\u2019m proud of him. He\u2019s done a great job with Bo. Davis was one of my favorite guys that I had to work with in my time at Buffalo and here. He\u2019s doing a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n

SI.com\u2019s Albert Breer linked Webb, 30, as a dark-horse candidate to fill the Titans head coach vacancy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019ll be a great coach for a long time,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cI think he\u2019ll be an offensive coordinator before you know it and then, God willing, a head coach. He\u2019s got that ability.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Giants designated OLB Victor Dimukeje to return from the physically unable to perform list. He hasn\u2019t practiced for the Giants since he suffered a torn pec during the offseason program.<\/p>\n
WR Darius Slayton (hamstring), C John Michael Schmitz (concussion), LB Swayze Bozeman (ankle), LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and CB Deonte Banks (personal reasons) did not practice Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m feeling good,\u201d Slayton said. \u201cI did a little bit of moving around. Making progress every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
