\n\tMarking the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future<\/a> (1985), Michael J. Fox<\/a> recently went back to the \u201980s to reminisce about making the time-travel classic.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his new memoir Future Boy, now available, the 4x Golden Globe winner recalled how his co-star Crispin Glover<\/a> \u201ccreated friction\u201d behind the scenes with his scrambled approach to portraying Marty\u2019s (Fox) hapless dad George McFly.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNobody puts Crispin in a box. But that didn\u2019t prevent the camera crew from literally building a box around him,\u201d wrote Fox, according to the New York Post<\/a>. \u201cAs George McFly, Crispin had his own ideas as to how and where his character should move.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFox recalled filming a scene of dialogue with Glover in which he wouldn\u2019t stay on his mark.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAs Crispin approached the camera, he was meant to stay in a lane between the clothesline and me. But Crispin had a different plan,\u201d he wrote. \u201cMy guess is that he saw George as a wanderer, a free spirit who traveled in random patterns \u2014 in this case, perpendicular to the camera.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor explained that the crew \u201cfabricated a miniature corral made of sandbags and C-stands, trapping Crispin into adhering to the parameters of the shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFox noted that he \u201cloved working\u201d with Glover, whose role as George McFly was recast for the sequels Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Part III (1990).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHis talent was unquestionable, although his methods sometimes created friction,\u201d he noted. \u201cStill, I respected how he remained true to George (as he understood and embodied him).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI knew Crispin Glover prior to Back to the Future. I wouldn\u2019t, however, say I was prepared to act with him \u2014 there\u2019s no way to prepare for Crispin. With Chris Lloyd, I had an inkling of what he was up to.
