Expect a few more clouds as we close out the work week thanks to southerly winds and a slight\u00a0uptick\u00a0in humidity. It\u2019ll continue to feel more like September with highs in the 90s Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, a cold front will advance through Texas but mainly affect North Texas when it comes to rain chances and a noticeable cool down. Central and South-Central Texas will only feature a slight chance of rain over the weekend. The cool down in North Texas will be brief, because it\u2019s right back to the 90s next week.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Texas Rep. Gina Hinojosa joins the race for Texas governor<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Texas Rep. Gina\u00a0Hinojosa, D-Austin, announced Wednesday she is running for governor in 2026 after serving for nearly a decade in the Texas House.<\/p>\n

Hinojosa is the first elected official to join over a dozen third-party and Democratic candidates who have declared intent to run.<\/p>\n

2. Federal judge issues temporary injunction on new law that limits expression on campuses<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

On Oct. 14, U.S. District Judge David A. Ezra issued a temporary injunction against parts of Texas\u2019 new law that limits expression on campuses.<\/p>\n

The University of Texas System\u2019s restrictions on expression, including overnight activities, speakers, sounds and drums, during the semester\u2019s last two weeks will be suspended by the injunction.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Texas GOP votes to censure 5 members, stops short of banning them from ballot<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The State Republican Executive Committee decided to censure five members, two of whom are not running for reelection. SREC member Rolando Garcia didn\u2019t think the accusations justified ballot removal and says the\u00a0party\u00a0can\u2019t afford another lawsuit while it battles to close its primary elections in court.<\/p>\n
